Abstract

Room-temperature measurements of the fast relaxation of the a.c. magnetic permeability have been performed on ferromagnetic amorphous alloys submitted to different heat treatments. The intensity of the fast permeability relaxation is observed to increase with annealing temperature, at least if partial crystallization of the material is avoided, in contrast with the behavior with annealing of the conventional permeability after effect. The effect of an applied stress on as-cast and annealed ribbons is discussed in terms of the dissipative model for the fast permeability relaxation in amorphous ferromagnets.
