Abstract

In this work, mononuclear complex [MnII(L)(Cl)(DMF)](ClO4) (1, L=1,6-diphenyl -2,5-bis(2-methylpyridyl)-2,5-diazahexane) and binuclear complex [MnII(L)(OAc)]2(ClO4)2·DMF·0.5H2O (2) were synthesized by reaction of MnII cations with ligand L in the presence of NaClO4. The difference is that complex 1 was synthesized with MnCl2·4H2O as MnII cations, and complex 2 was with Mn(OAc)2·4H2O as MnII cations. Both complexes 1 and 2 were characterized by MS, elemental analysis, electronic absorption spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both compounds 1 and 2 crystallize in monoclinic space group P21/n. The central Mn2+ ion in 1 adopts a distorted [MnN4O(Cl)] octahedral coordination, and the central Mn2+ ion in 2 adopts a distorted [MnN4O2] octahedral coordination. The results demonstrate that anions Cl− and OAc− play an important role in the fabrication of structures of 1 and 2.
