(Abstracted from JAMA 2022:328(1):27–37) Mortality, morbidity, and childhood developmental challenges can all result from adverse birth outcomes. In regard to these outcomes, the United States exhibits significant racial and socioeconomic inequities, and effective interventions targeting low-income pregnant people are necessary.
