Abstract

Because of their unique properties, magnetic liquids have found wide application in science and technology. But many of their physical properties are still insufficiently understood. An investigation of the effect of a magnetic field on the velocity of ultrasonic waves in a magnetic liquid was carried out in this work. The interest in these investigations results from the need to construct a physical model of magnetic liquids, to develop reliable methods for the prediction and control of magnetic-liquid seals, and to investigate the possibility of using magnetic liquids as converters of electromagnetic field energy to acoustical energy.
