Abstract
Introduction: Defibrillation threshold (DFT) testing is routinely performed during implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation to test the effectiveness to terminate ventricular fibrillation (VF). However, with the currently implanted ICDs failure of defibrillation is uncommon and the value of DFT testing is under discussion. Amiodarone alters VF and increases defibrillation energy requirements. In patients using amiodarone DFT testing could be essential to ensure effective therapy.
