Abstract

OBJECTIVE: One of the vital functions of macrophages in the face of an invading “foreign” material or when encountering cellular debris and apoptotic cells is the scavenger function. Abnormally functioning macrophages could contribute to the growth of ectopic endometrial cells is through defective scavenging activity that is proposed mechanism by which growthing of endometriosis. We aimed to assess the effect of amifostin(WR-2721) as a scavenger in a rat endometriosis model.
