Abstract
1. Chromium additives accelerate segregation of the embrittling α-phase and increase the nonuniformity of its distribution over the bulk of a grain and from grain to grain. Therefore, chromium decreases the output of quality alloys of the Mn−Cu system in all treatment stages. 2. Segregation of the α-phase in alloys of the Mn−Cu system is suppressed by alloying them with Co, Ni, and Ge. The Ge-alloyed alloys have the best adaptability to manufacture. Cobalt alloying does not provide the desired improvement in the adaptability to manufacture.
