Abstract

The effect of degree of alliteration on verbal learning was studied. Four degrees of alliteration and three retention intervals were used. Alliteration alone had no effect on retention. With the addition of an attentional cue (capitalization or instructions), alliteration had a significant facilitative effect on retention.
