Abstract

In this work, FT-IR spectrum of pure ethanoic acid, 1-alkanols and their mixtures at equimolar composition have been reported to analyze the type and nature of intra- and inter molecular interactions between component molecules in liquid mixtures. Although, experimental values of thermophysical parameters such as density (ρ) and speeds of sound (u) were measured for ethanoic acid with 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol and 1-heptanol at different temperature range from (298.15 to 313.15) K at 5K step, and at atmospheric pressure. Additionally, the excess volume (VE), isentropic compressibility (ks) and excess isentropic compressibility (ksE)were calculated for the binary mixtures over the entire composition range. These excess properties (VE) and (ksE) were correlated with Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. Nonetheless, the recorded FT-IR spectrum of pure liquids and their mixtures confirm the molecular interactions between component molecules through shifting of the OH, CH and CO stretching vibrational frequencies.
