Abstract

To understand the effect of NaOH pretreatment on the dyeing of Lyocell knitted fabrics, samples are pre- treated with different concentrations of NaOH, using an exhausting process, then dyed with reactive dyes namely High Exhaustion and Trifunctional reactive dyes. Visual color strength (K/S values) and fastness properties are measured. it’s observed that NaOH pre-treatment significantly improves the color yield and fastness properties for both dyes used for various alkali concentrations. the very best K/S values are obtained when the fabrics are pre-treated with 1.5 Mol./ lit NaOH.
