Abstract

The microstructure and mechanical properties of hot-rolled ZrSn1.5Alx (x = 0, 2, 4, 6 at.%) alloys were systematically studied. XRD diffraction peaks and SAED results confirmed the presence of α/α′-Zr and the β-Zr. The morphology was mainly characterized by a short-rod α-Zr and tends to be equiaxed with fine lath α-Zr. The analysis of the tensile test results shows that the strength is increased significantly by 85.3% in σ0.2 and 54.8% in σb. Accordingly, the ductility presents an opposite trend. The hot-rolled ZrSn1.5Al6 (at.%) alloy has the highest UTS (σb = 846.90 MPa) while maintaining a εf of 15.35%. Based on the phase evolution and microstructure, combined with the solid solution strengthening mechanism, the mechanical properties of hot-rolled ZrSn1.5Alx (x = 0, 2, 4, 6 at.%) series alloys were discussed.
