Abstract

1. 1. Changes with age in sterol and steryl ester content and composition of the skin and aorta of the Silver King pigeons has been examined. 2. 2. Total sterol concentration in the skin remained constant while in the aorta it increased with age. 3. 3. The steryl ester concentration of the aorta increased with age. Changes in skin were minimal. 4. 4. In the aorta, oleic and linoleic acids in the steryl esters increased and palmitic acid decreased with age. The skin showed no changes. 5. 5. Cholestaol has been found in the aorta and skin of pigeons.
