Abstract

The effect of self-field induced flux creep in Y 1− x Ca x Ba 2Cu 3O 7− y bulk system has been studied with application of magnetic field in a perpendicular direction to the measuring current. The flux creep effect is much reduced when Ag is made composite to the above system. The observed increase in Jc can be interpreted as the arrest/slow down of the vortex motion, i.e., flux-line lattice is more rigid in Ag composite system than flux-line lattice in Ag free system below the critical temperature. The observed I– V characteristics indicate that once the critical current is attended, the conducting exponent is weakly dependent on magnetic field.
