Abstract

Germination of blue panic grass, lehmann love grass, buffel grass, common Bermuda grass, and alfalfa was studied in petri dishes containing sulfuric acid solutions ranging in pH from 7.0 to 1.0. Above pH 4.0 there was no significant decrease in percent germination. Lehmann love grass and common Bermuda grass did not germinate at or below pH 3.0. Alfalfa and buffel grass were the most acid tolerant species tested.
