Abstract

THE Kelsey plum, a Japanese variety, is at its best a plum of outstandingly high quality, but as grown in South Africa, it is notoriously difficult to ripen after picking, even when gathered at fairly advanced maturity and kept at ordinary atmospheric temperatures.
