Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the effect of foliar applications of a water-soluble complex fertilizer without nitrogen, on plant growth, budding and flowering of strawberry runner plants. The cultivar used was the junebearing ‘Seolhyang’. After foliar spraying in one month intervals from the last ten days of July. There was a significant effect of treatments on the leaf number and dry weight. Yields at 40 days after transplanting were not affected by treatments. The budding ratio was 8.5 to 10.5% higher than the control at 35 days after transplanting, and the same trend was observed at 45 and 55 days after transplanting. The flowering ratio of the one or more leaf sprays group increased compared to the control. Therefore, it was found that during the strawberry nursery period (summer, high temperatures, long photoperiods), leaf sprays with a nutrient solution lacking nitrogen induced flower bud differentiation and increased budding ratio.
