Abstract

It is shown that the venous pulse on the isolated vein of the wing membrane ofChiroptera (preparation of the venous sack) is provoked by two different stimuli:— (1) by extension (internal pressure of the vessel), (2) by a humoral factor, which is shown (a) in the serumdialysate (b) in Recosen, a protein-free heart extract of mammalia.
