Abstract

The magnetic behavior at T=0 K of a system consisting of conduction electrons coupled to localized electrons is studied in the molecular-field approximation with a simple exchange parameter distribution. The localized electrons are also submitted to an axial crystal field. We define an average ionic magnetic moment and obtain a condition for the spontaneous magnetic order involving the crystal field, the width, and the center of the exchange distribution. We also study the magnetic behavior in the para- and ferromagnetic regions of the phase diagram. In a previous study1 the same model was applied to a system containing a crystal-field distribution.
