Abstract

This project focuses on performing computer simulations to estimate the effects of lightning on aircrafts and its interference in the on-board electronic systems. Models composed of aluminum alloys and carbon fiber composite materials were implemented. From the simulations performed in the CST Studio software, it was possible to observe the influence of several factors on the electric current behavior. The way fibers are organized in the matrix structure, the fiber presence proportion and the area where the affected composite material is located on the aircraft.
