Abstract

Objective To discuss several kinds of surgery procedures and treatment effects of repairing degloving injuries of the whole finger.Methods Twenty-three fingers were repaired with replantation in eleven cases.Six fingers were repaired with free abdominal flap in 3 cases at one stage and one finger in 1 case at the second stage.Thirteen fingers were repaired with second toe wrap-around flap in 9 cases at one stage and 2 fingers in 1 case at the second stage.Results In the fingers repaired with replantation,fifteen fingers survived,eight fingers were failed.In the fingers repaired with free abdominal flap,three fingers survived; three fingers were failed.The flaps used at the second stage survived well.All second toe wrap-around flaps survived well.Patients were followed from 6 months to 7 years with an average of 2.5 years.The contour and texture of the repaired finger were good and the recovery of sensation and function was satisfactory.Except ulceration occurred in 1 case at the central of skin graft and the wound healed after changing dressing,the remaining donor sites of the flaps healed well without scar formation,and all patients walled well.Conclusion The choice of surgical options should be based on the patient's age,sex,occupation,needs,physical condition,general medical condition and the characteristics of the injury,then the function and cosmetic of the repaired hand will achieve satisfactory results.
