Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not the use of cultural context-based digital learning media has an effect on improving students' mathematical communication skills in remote schools in East Aceh district. This research is a quasi-experimental research and the research design used is the Nonequivalent Control Group Design involving two groups, namely the experimental class that uses digital learning media and the control class that does not use digital learning media. The research was carried out in 3 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah inland, Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency, especially class V on the volume of cubes and beams. From the results of the two independent sample Kolmogrov-Smirnov test that has been carried out, it shows that the use of digital learning media based on cultural context has a significant and quite effective influence on improving students' mathematical communication skills in remote MIN, East Aceh Regency. This result can be seen from the calculation of the two independent sample Kolmogrov-Smirnov test with the asymp value. sig. for the same variance in each school, namely MIN 8 Aceh Timur, MIN 26 Aceh Timur and MIN 27 Aceh Timur respectively were 0.00, 0.01 and 0.00. This value shows a significance level of p < 0.05 (0.00, 0.01 and 0.00 < 0.05), which means Ho is rejected or Ha is accepted.
