Abstract

The waste problem in Indonesia is quite complex due to the lack of public understanding of the consequences that waste can cause. Apart from that, there is a mismatch between people's standard of living and knowledge about waste and a lack of community participation in maintaining cleanliness by disposing of waste in its proper place. One of the villages that is quite bad in terms of waste regulations is Panenjoan Carenang Village where rubbish is simply piled up in every corner of the village. This is due to a lack of awareness regarding the behavior of throwing rubbish in its place. Understanding regarding the behavior of throwing rubbish in its place should be instilled from a young age. Children need to be given an understanding of the negative impacts of throwing away rubbish to increase awareness of throwing rubbish in its proper place. To provide understanding to children, media is needed. One of the learning media that provides concrete experiences is game media. So there needs to be an educational game media (edu-game) to introduce the bad effects of throwing away rubbish to children. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of implementing edu-games to increase the behavior of throwing rubbish in its place. The research method used is quantitative. The research results show that tcount > ttable (3,871 > 16,039), and the significance value (P) is 0.000 < ???? (0.05), thus Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This proves that the implementation of edu-games can increase awareness of disposing of waste in its place
