Abstract

The objective of this research was to verify the effects of planting combinations and of the agricultural years on the accumulation of mass and yields of BRS Piabiru quinoa cultivar. The experiments were conducted in the experimental area of the Phytotechnology Department of the Federal University of Ceara, at Campus do Pici, in Fortaleza, CE for the agricultural years 2014/2015 (from October to February) and 2015/2016 (from September to January). The treatments resulted from a 3x3 factorial scheme (spacings 20, 40 and 60 cm and density 10, 15 and 20 cm), and these treatments were distributed in four replicates. The leaf area, leaf area index, aerial part dry matter, panicle grain ratio, percentage of oil in the grains and panicle productivity were evaluated. The experiments were analyzed together for the crop cycles. The best spatial arrangement for growth and production of quinoa biomass is 20 x 10 cm. The smaller spacing combined with increased line density (20 x 10 cm) resulted in increased leaf area index (4.08) and panicle productivity (4,229.17 kg ha-1).
