Abstract

The success in the production of seedlings depends on the volume and type of container used which reflects on the quality of the seedlings. This study aimed to evaluate the initial growth of seedlings of Adenanthera pavonina L., in response to different volumes and types of containers tested. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, in the forest nursery of the Federal University of Amazonas, Manaus, AM. The treatments corresponded to polyethylene bags of 2 dm³, 1 dm³ and rigid polyethylene of 0.299 dm³. The variables of growth and biomass were analyzed. The polyethylene bags of 2 dm³, provided greater growth of A. pavonina seedlings in all parameters analyzed.
