Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the situation of the Spanish tourist sector in the framework of a socioeconomic crisis and in a moment where strategic rethinking at all levels are needed. To do this, we will conduct an analysis based on a review of the scientific literature on the social and economic crisis, particularly in Spain, and focusing specially aspects such as lifestyle and behavior changes of tourists, and also some response measures and different strategies created to try to mitigate the effects of the present crisis in the current economic situation. We will propose finally different recommendations issued from the previous reflection, which can be significant regarding an eventual recuperation in the Spanish tourism sector in the short and medium term.
