Abstract

The effects of two different post-weld heat treatment cycles on the microstructure and mechanical properties of welded API 5CT J55 steels were investigated in the present work. Experiments were carried out based on a Taguchi experimental design. Ortogonal arrays (L9) of Taguchi and statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to determine the impact of the heat treatment parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of experimental steel. From the results of ANOVA, there were obtained the empirical equations for optimizing the heat treating conditions that lead to the best mechanical properties.
