Abstract

The Manchego sheep sector has a selection scheme that works as a process management program (PGP). The aim of this study was to evalute the effectiveness of PGP on production and economic performance of dairy sheep farms. The information of 90 farms (59 % with PGP and 47.8 % without PGP) collected through surveys and interviews was used. The effect of the application of PGP was assessed using the t test for quantitative variables and chi-square test qualitative variables. Results show that the PGP has the reproduction as central axis and improve the integration of different processes. Also, it has positive effects on the level of productivity and economic performance of farms.
