Abstract

Excitation-emission matrix (EEM) was applied to investigate the fluorescent-dissolved organic matter (FDOM) in biologically treated sewage effluent. The removal property of fluorescent DOM was also conducted with batch experiments. Two types of humic substances were identified with EEM spectra, of which the removal efficiency was different between removal methods (adsorption or ion exchange) and affected by pH condition.
