Abstract

Using the white line intensities, electron energy-loss spectroscopy in a transmission electron microscope has been applied to characterizing the valence state of manganese in the system (La 1− x Y x ) 0.5(Ca 1− y Sr y ) 0.5MnO 3 at room temperature and lower temperature (93 K), respectively. The results show that the valence state of manganese keeps consistent (close to 3.5) in this system at room temperature and lower temperature.
