Abstract

Opioids are needed for managing cancer-related pain. However, cancer survivors may experience substantial out-of-pocket spending because opioid use may trigger additional healthcare utilization to manage the opioids’ side and adverse effects. This study aims to estimate the excess out-of-pocket expenditures and out-of-pocket burden of prescription opioid use among older adults with any NCPC and cancer.
