Abstract

A discussion of educational and professional preparation for future workforce members supporting Cartridge Actuated Devices/Propellant Actuated Devices and related technologies is provided. The CAD/PAD Joint Program Office and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD), CAD/PAD Division are reporting this information as part of their Technology Roadmap efforts. Developing professionals who can readily contribute to the CAD/PAD industry requires a diverse range of technical competencies including the disciplines of chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, mathematics and physics. This paper discusses both suggested academic and professional training and relevant work experience that may contribute to a successful career in this important area of the defense and aerospace industry.
