Abstract

The main goal of the European Union Strategy "Europe 2020" in the field of education is the creation of a highly educated and well-prepared human resource capable of responding adequately to the dynamically changing environment. Simultaneously with the acquisition of intellectual knowledge, modern education faces the task of building new competencies in people, with which to meet the needs of the 21st century [1]. In the context of this understanding, this paper presents an educational concept bringing together these requirements and explores the possibilities of building problem-solving skills in the learning process through projects in electrical engineering disciplines. The paper includes a concrete example of a project assignment for a learning project on the topic: Control of Electric Motors and presents the results of the proof-of-concept of this concept.
