Abstract

Changes to educational policy in the United Kingdom (UK) have been influenced by a number of local and global forces. In this article the author provides a comprehensive overview of the major changes in educational policy in the UK under Conservative and Labour governments. Some of the key areas concerning educational policy development are discussed, such as the effect of devolution in the UK, and some of the problems of the increasing marketisation of education.
