Abstract
A study project of the Asian Association of Occupational Health in eight Asian countries (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand) was conducted in 1981-83. Among other objectives, a study on Occupational Health Education was included. It was found that in all these countries there was teaching of occupational health in medical schools. However, there was little teaching of nurses. Few countries had formal training of safety engineers. Specialist training in occupational health was available in six countries. The findings are compared with the known situation in other countries. Possible ways to promote more cooperation and improvements in Asia are then discussed.
