Abstract

Existing theories of geragogy emphasize past life by using the Life Review as a primary teaching method. Three literatures: Jungian Psychology, Women's Psychosocial Development and Critical Gerontology, which examines the social, political and economic aspects of life experience, suggest that educators should explore the present and contextualize that present-sense to account for the political, economic and sociocultural environment of older adult lives. An expansion to a theory of Geragogy suggests that an aim of education may be expression. Within this gramework, reflective questioning might be a primary teaching method, a worldview of the dialectic is offered and developing mindfulness, in older adults may help them realize a sense of well-being and satisfaction.
