Abstract

The prevailing educational programs in security studies do not sufficiently take into account all aspects of the profile of personnel working in the security services, which is why there is a need to organize additional basic and specialized training for the specific security needs. The definition of educational needs in a specific area, including the area of security, requires the foundation of theoretical assumptions, empirical research, significant facts that arise with the acceptance of new, changed and expanded paradigms of security, as well as traditional activities in the area of security. Modern security services are daily faced with serious challenges in terms of endangering national security, which is why the need for professional education exclusively for the needs of the security services inevitably arises. In the international practice, several models of personnel education for the needs of the security services are evident. Within the security services of the Republic of North Macedonia, there are no special higher education institutions which produce personnel for their needs, which is not the case with the surrounding countries and the more developed democratic states of the international community. The paper will make a comparative analysis of the process of training personnel for the needs of the security services in the Republic of North Macedonia, the countries from the neighborhood, and the developed democratic states of the world. Keywords: education, security, security services
