Abstract

In this article, the authors describe the opportunities and barriers faced in planning and developing a model PA distance education curriculum and program infrastructure for the training of American Indian students. The barriers include those faced in recruiting qualified American Indian students, in procuring interactive video equipment to be shared between two campuses, and in the actual education of American Indian students using this learning format. The article will include valuable lessons learned both in the education of American Indian students, and the use of live, synchronous interactive video.
