Abstract

The Chilean Congress is processing a bill on certification of labor competencies that will allow individuals working in this field to obtain some form of acknowledgement not necessarily dependent on formal education. This paper discusses the implications of an accreditation system of this kind with regard to the educational supply in the audiovisual field. In general, it suggests some ideas that should serve as the basis for a more extensive discussion on the role of higher education institutions regarding the training of technicians and professionals in this area.
