Abstract

This issue of the Art Journal grew out of a panel, “The Poster—An Expression of Its Time,” held at the 1983 Annual Meeting of the College Art Association in Philadelphia. The panel brought together five art historians and four designers to discuss the poster as an artistic barometer of society. This issue is in part a restatement, in part an expansion, of that discussion.
