Abstract

Editor's Note Donna M. DeBlasio This issue of Ohio History brings both sad news and good news. This issue is dedicated to Stuart Stiffler, a respected scholar of nineteenth-century library history, and Owen V. Johnson, a professor who trained hundreds of students to be professional journalists around the world. Mr. Stiffler passed away on April 21, 2022. Professor Johnson passed away on August 6, 2022. Their articles in this issue are their last published works. On behalf of Ohio History and our editorial board and staff, I would like to extend our sympathies to Mr. Stiffler's and Mr. Johnson's family and friends. On a happier note, I am pleased to report that one of our authors, Dr. Perry Bush of Bluffton College, is the recipient of the Bowling Green State University Local History Publication Award for best article dealing with the history of northwest Ohio. Dr. Bush's prizewinning article, "'We Have Them Whipped Here:' Lynching and the Rule of Law in Lima, Ohio," appeared in the Fall 2021 issue of Ohio History, which can be accessed here: https://oaks.kent.edu/ohj/ohio-history-fall-2021. Congratulations from all of us at Ohio History to Dr. Bush on this honor. [End Page 8] Donna M. DeBlasio Youngstown State University Copyright © 2022 Ohio History
