Abstract

In response to the Ebola outbreak and the many issues it raised, three organizations committed to excellence in emergency care, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine collaborated in the development of a position paper to reflect on and provide guidance for the ethical concerns identified in the treatment of patients presenting to emergency departments with the possibility of Ebola. The lessons learned from the Ebola outbreak can no doubt be applied to other circumstances in emergency care as well.
