Abstract

Most Russian sociologists and economists would probably agree that the post-Soviet period has been marked by substantial increases in inequality in the distribution of income and wealth. Some of the studies in this area have focused on public perceptions of the legitimacy of recent trends in income distribution, while others have been more concerned with gauging the dimensions of the growth in inequality. The first two articles in our current issue report the results of some recent empirical studies in these areas.
