Abstract

Midsummer is here and a variety of activities related to circumpolar health are well underway. Thefirst back-to-back meeting of Arctic health experts was held in early June in Umeå, Sweden. Thehealth experts at this meeting represented the Arctic Monitoring Assessment Program (AMAP)of the Arctic Council and the Arctic Human Health Expert Group (AHHEG) of the SustainableDevelopment Working Group. In addition, various observers from Indigenous organizationsand other circumpolar health organizations, as well as governmental representatives fromSweden, took part. The task was to discuss current and emerging health concerns in the Arctic, ongoing research, development and educational programs, synergies and future co-operation.The meeting activities reflected the recently launched Arctic Human Health Declaration.
