Abstract

One of the essential attributes of a progressive instructor or research worker with poultry today is to be able to see and think from another’s view point. This is particularly true when what we teach or publish may promptly be questioned or refuted by another who has new or more mature information. We need especially to appreciate the viewpoint of the practical poultry keeper. Even with this safeguard, we may often appear as heretics from his viewpoint. Do we realize his predicament today when he is constantly bombarded with new ideas and radical departures from established beliefs and practices? The birth of new facts is invariably attended with contradictions. When the progressive poultryman seeks the latest on some question, he often finds that the “best authorities” do not agree.
