Abstract

Recently my colleague Dr Colin Fowler, of Aston University, gave me a copy of The Ophthalmic Optician dated 5th October 1968. He thought I would be interested as the picture on the cover of this issue showed the contact lens teaching clinics at Aston at that time (see Fig. 1). The clinics were almost unrecognisable from the current contact lens teaching clinics at Aston. The furnishings, the equipment cabinets, the consulting chairs – in fact even the location of the clinics were all different (since 1987 Optometry has been housed in a separate building away from the main buildings of Aston University).
