Abstract

“The joy that engineers and mathematicians have come together.”1 Richard von Mises’ foundation of ZAMM, and its “Tasks and Goals” (1920/21) The paper highlights the beginning of the ZAMM that was established in an economical problematic time. It was the first time that mathematicians and engineers tried to combine their efforts in solving practical problems. I hope that the readers enjoy this year's highlighting of the history of ZAMM, its famous papers and the fundamental scientists publishing them.
