Abstract

The Anti-Ageing Conference that has been held biennially in London for nearly 30 years and has had a clear aim of presenting current and new research and scientific opinions on the skin. The International Journal of Cosmetic Science was established in 1979 and has continuously improved to reach its current high academic standing. In 2022, with an impact factor of 2.461, the journal is ranked at number 40 of the 69 journals that are grouped as ‘Dermatology’ publications and is also the leading ‘peer review’ journal in cosmetics. Close to 12 000 institutions offer access to IJCS via a Wiley licence and more than 500 000 full texts were downloaded last year. The stated aims of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science are ‘to present current scientific research, both pure and applied in cosmetics, toiletries, perfumery and allied fields’. The instruction to authors also states that ‘articles should have a clear connection to and usefulness for cosmetics applications’. Science progresses by trial and error, by contradictory debates, and consensus has no place. If a scientific thesis does not permit debate, it is because it is pseudoscience which is under the control of an ideology. The Anti-Ageing Conference and the International Journal of Cosmetic Science give you the opportunity to express yourself and share your ideas, knowledge and research by different but complementary means and both at a high scientific level. There is an opportunity to initiate a partnership between the Anti-Ageing Conference and the IJCS at this year's Anti-Ageing Conference in London in November. A strong alliance would be of mutual benefit, synergistic and aid in the promotion of scientific excellence in the important field of Skincare.
