Abstract
The annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) takes place every January in Las Vegas and lends a podium to roughly 3,000 electronics manufacturers who announce new technologies and demonstrate prototypes of cutting-edge products, some of which will fly off the shelves, while others are not even considered for mass production. Many winning technologies that grew to dominate the consumer electronics landscape like the VCR, the camcorder, and the Xbox debuted at past CES events, which in 2012 had 150,000 press and industry attendees. (Sorry general public, the show's only for the big spenders!) I'll analyze what this year's event had to offer to predict where we might see electronics headed toward in the coming months. It will also shed light on the kinds of projects we electrical engineers might end up enabling in the near future. The biggest buzzword at CES 2012 was Ultrabook.
