Abstract

The Local Organizing Committee warmly welcomes you to the 19th Annual Conference of the European Society of Domestic Animal Reproduction (ESDAR), organized in Albena resort, Varna, Bulgaria. The event is organized by ESDAR and the Bulgarian Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction ‘Acad. K. Bratanov’, which is part of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Following the tradition, the ESDAR Conference will be held in association with the Annual Meeting of the EU-AI-Vets. The scientific programme of the ESDAR conference reflects the innovative research processes in the field of reproduction of both domestic and wild animals. During our event, researchers from many countries will have the chance to share with us current advances in the field of reproductive biology and biotechnology in addition to the traditional veterinary medicine, physiology and pathology of animal reproduction. The ESDAR conference 2015 furthermore offers the opportunity to present the implementation of reproductive biotechnologies for preserving the genetic resources of the Balkans by including a workshop organized by the Balkan Network for Biotechnology in Animal Reproduction in the programme. The Local Organizing Committee and the ESDAR Board are confident that combining different forms of presentations of scientific results, such as plenary lectures, workshops and poster presentations, will provoke fruitful discussions across the different fields of animal reproduction, which are of interest for both academic researchers and veterinarians in the field. We are very grateful for the professional assistance of ‘CIM’ the conference organizing company that has guided us through the many details involved in preparing the conference. The ESDAR conference would furthermore not be possible without the support of our sponsors. The contribution of all these sponsoring companies and persons is greatly acknowledged. As members of the Local Organizing Committee, we thank all participants for their active participation in our meeting and wish them an enjoyable stay in the sunny and warm Albena in September – one of the most picturesque Bulgarian Black Sea resorts! This issue of Reproduction in Domestic Animals contains papers from plenary lectures and abstracts from workshops, oral communications, posters as well as the workshop of the Balkan Network for Biotechnology in Animal Reproduction. None of the authors have any conflict of interest to declare.
