Abstract
In this special issue, we have tried to highlight the contributions of the ‘Luminaries of Bengal Psychiatry’ whose efforts over the years has brought Indian Psychiatry to what it is today. The current generation has a tendency to look for all achievers and achievements beyond their own place. With passing time, the contributions of these individuals are likely to be forgotten. Hence, it is our responsibility to highlight the achievements of these great souls whose legacy is being carried on today in various aspects - teaching, academic writing, clinical work or community services. I am really indebted to the contributors who have toiled very hard in such a short period of time to make this special issue see the light of the day!
